The night the Craniums came, they whispered promises to show Robert a marvelous place.
A few them swooped nearer and nibbled and gummed at his umbrella and the shoulders of his coat, there dank hair brushing at his skin making him shiver.
He felt the brolly tug at his arm, and he held on tight as he was lifted up into the night's sky.
He wanted to see this 'Vertex' they talked about he didn't know if he could trust them.
They chattered in their own language and laughed in a strange way.
